Things in Life that Really Matter

I have to admit that I have been caught up in the frenzy of work life. I have been going and doing and implementing things without even realizing what I should have been doing at the same time. This hit me when I was having a massage and once again the masseuse said that my muscles were tense and asked whether I have been doing sports or have exercised. And once again I started explaining that I haven’t had time but that next week I would start exercising again. I never did. And it is not because I was lazy, no, I just didn’t seem to get to it because I was too busy working and doing work related things. In this situation sports and often sleep, too, are the things that are compromised.

Luckily this week, I reserved gym time, made clear work schedules and designated time to spend with my family and friends. After doing each of these, I found myself to be happier. It felt like I had accomplished something – as silly as it sounds. Along with the good feeling gotten from this, I decided to make some changes in my apartment, too. Just to make it my Zen place where I could find peace and relax.

I started by painting the walls. For bedroom I chose light peach – a warm color that would create an appealing atmosphere. For living room it was light beige with a dark violet, that is aubergine, accent wall. In kitchen I left all the other walls white except for one wall which I painted wine red. For inspiration I had turned to different interior design magazines where I also stumbled upon my dream living room: aubergine accent wall, beige and dark brown furniture, sea grass elements and the impressive center piece – a fireplace. After seeing the photo, I straightaway called the company called Uunisepät. Uunisepät is a Finnish company and they produce very trendy, yet well engineered, fireplaces to suit every style. An expert from Uunisepät came by yesterday and I found out that I would be getting my Zen center piece in about three weeks. I just can’t wait! I am happy that finally everything is coming together, also in my personal life.
